Welcome to My Story: How It Began and Where I Am Today
How It Began —A Lifelong Photographer
I’ve been photographing life for as long as I can remember, always searching for the perfect moment—sometimes through a camera lens, sometimes just with my eyes. Since I was young, my family and our adventures were my favorite subjects, and over time, that passion has grown into a career capturing the world around me.
I followed my creative side and started studying art, but life had other plans. I soon found myself drawn into emergency medical services—as an EMT, paramedic, flight nurse, and lastly, as a nurse practitioner. My career has gifted me the opportunity to find adventurous work in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Washington state.
From Flight Nurse to Visual Storyteller Photographer
As a flight nurse, I had the opportunity to see a perspective few people ever experience—viewing the world from high above. I’d watch the patchwork of farmland stretch out below, fields of all shapes, sizes, and colors stitched together like a quilt. Snaking rivers and streams caught the light, while tiny roads and highways threaded through clusters of buildings, making towns and cities appear miniature.
Seasonal changes transformed the landscape—from snow-covered fields to blooming spring pastures, and the fiery palette of autumn leaves—painting a constantly shifting masterpiece below me.
That view didn’t just change how I saw the world—it trained my eye to notice beauty, patterns, and moments from every angle.
Today, whether I’m behind a camera on the ground or flying a drone in the sky, I bring that same perspective to my photography—capturing images that tell a story, reveal the bigger picture, and preserve moments people might otherwise miss.
If you want to see what others don’t see,
you have to look where others don’t look.
I enjoy photographing water from above with my drone, or through still photography at the ground level, capturing its movement, light, and activity.
My Favorite Things to Photograph
-

Water Sports & Events
I specialize in water events such as canoe and kayak races, waterskiing, and all types of boating scenes.
-

Marinas & Commercial Waterfront Work
I have commercially photographed more than 25 marinas, capturing everything from boat approaches and slip layouts to fuel docks, public areas, on-site restaurants or marine stores, and key amenities such as restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.
-

Land, Life & Landscapes
Beyond waterfront work, I enjoy photographing shorelines, farms, landscapes, people, and pets.
-

Nature & Fleeting Moments
I’m especially drawn to fleeting moments in nature—like the northern lights or a rainbow stretching across the sky—moments that feel like a gift to witness and preserve.
My Photography and Drone Work—
From a Hobby to a Business
A few years ago, I retired from nursing and began fully pursuing my lifelong love for art, adventure, and photography. I’ve walked beside my son, Zach—an artful photographer and FAA-certified commercial drone pilot—through his mentorship, I learned the technical skill of flying drones, while obtaining high quality aerial photos and videos.
In 2023, I earned my FAA Part 107 Certification as a drone pilot, turning years of interest and hands-on experience into a professional credential. Together with Zach, I became involved in a range of commercial drone and photography work, including real estate, inspecting large grain elevators in Oklahoma, and contributing photos and video to documentary projects through his Drone and photography business—each experience strengthening my skills and deepening my appreciation for visual storytelling.
I then officially launched my Minnesota-based small business, Mama Drone, LLC, combining my background to serve families, businesses, and communities with images that capture both the moment and the bigger picture.
